Among the many places I've had the pleasure of exploring, the city of Irvine in California holds some truly remarkable wedding venues. As a wedding photographer, my day-to-day routine is quite varied. From responding to early morning emails to editing sneak peek photos over a cup of coffee, no two days are ever the same. Depending on the day, you might find me prepping for a shoot, diving into a shot list, or packing my gear for a day on location. Even though I have a newfound passion for rock climbing, when wedding season arrives, everything else takes a backseat to the excitement of capturing stunning moments in spectacular venues.

One such venue that always stands out is the Plaza Centre ville hotel in Montreal, Canada. This stunning venue was where I had the pleasure of photographing Harjaap and Devin's wedding reception. Their love story could rival any fairytale, and it was such an honor to be a part of their special day.

The Plaza Centre ville hotel, with its grand architecture and chic interior, provided the perfect backdrop for this romantic event. As the couple exchanged their vows, the soft lighting accentuated their glowing faces, creating a moment that will forever be etched in their hearts, and now, thanks to my role as a wedding photographer, in their wedding album.

The reception was nothing short of magical. The hotel's elegant ballroom sparkled with fairy lights, creating a dreamy atmosphere. Harjaap and Devin's first dance as a married couple was simply unforgettable, and I was there, camera in hand, to capture every breathtaking moment.

Being a wedding photographer at the Plaza Centre ville hotel is always a rewarding experience. The staff is incredibly professional, ensuring that every detail is taken care of, making it easier for me to focus on taking stunning photographs.

As Harjaap and Devin's wedding photographer, I had the chance to capture not just their love, but the love of their family and friends, celebrating this new chapter in their lives. To say that this wedding was beautiful would be an understatement.

So, if you're planning your wedding and are in search of a wedding photographer who can capture the essence of your love story at the Plaza Centre ville hotel, feel free to reach out. I'd love to be part of your special day, capturing the moments that you'll cherish for a lifetime.

It was Christmas Eve, and Erin and I were preparing for our flight to Zanzibar. However, the 25cm of snow at Vancouver Airport had other plans, leading to the cancellation of all flights. In a split-second decision, we decided to drive down to Seattle, a frantic decision that had us on the road by 9pm, skipping our initial Vancouver flight to catch the connection from Seattle. We owe a big thanks to Erin’s parents who graciously agreed to pick up our car the next day!
When we landed in Zanzibar, our relief was palpable. We got to spend a wonderful day exploring Stone Town, local spice farms and even picked up some Swahili phrases. The next day, we ventured to Mafia, a small island off Zanzibar known for its Whale Sharks. The island was a hidden gem, untouched by commercialization and the locals were immensely warm and welcoming.

The following day, we embarked on a quest to find whale sharks on a traditional wooden dhow. The turquoise blue and warm water were captivating, but even after 5 hours, there were no signs of the sharks. Disappointed, we decided to give it another try the next day.

Again, after 5 hours of searching, no sharks. The disappointment was setting in. Just as I was dozing off on the return ride, I woke to shouts of 'Shark!'. Our guide, Maya, had jumped into the water. We quickly got our gear on, sat on the edge of the boat, and at the shouts of 'Go, Go, Go', we jumped into the choppy water.

The water was rough, and I swallowed sea water, coughing and struggling to stay afloat. I lost sight of Maya and unfortunately didn't get a look at the shark. We were picked up by the boat, only to get ready for another plunge.

Another attempt, more swallowed water, and still no shark. But as the saying goes, third time’s the charm! We jumped into the water, swam as hard as we could towards Maya, and then, out of the dark depths, we saw it. A 10-foot shark, gliding gracefully like an airplane through the water. This majestic creature was surprisingly fast. I quickly took my chance and made a quick dive down to swim alongside the shark for a fleeting, yet unforgettable moment. Unfortunately for Erin, in my excitement, I accidentally kicked her during my dive. A small price to pay for the most exhilarating experience of our lives!

In a similar vein as a charity worker, every day is brimming with a variety of deeds, from early morning calls and breakfast to strategizing the day's tasks. Depending on the day, I might find myself packing essentials for a field trip, diving into an extensive list of donations, or gearing up for a day in the heart of Mashunga, a beautiful project nestled in the vibrant landscapes of Uganda. Recently, I've been juggling my regular work with a newfound passion for charity, particularly focused on assisting children. However, when the festive season rolls in, my routine takes a backseat to the bustle and hustle of planning events, organizing food drives, and coordinating educational initiatives for the children of Mashunga. Mashunga, a quaint project, is dedicated to helping children in Uganda, a country that despite its challenges, never fails to inspire with its resilience and spirit. Much like the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, BC, Canada, which impresses with its grandeur and elegance, Mashunga, though in a different way, leaves an indelible impression with its vitality and the sheer willpower of its children, who strive to learn and grow despite their circumstances. My work with Mashunga is not just about charity, it's about connection. It's about seeing the potential in every child and helping them realize their dreams. It's about those early morning tutoring sessions, those late-night discussions planning the next fundraiser, and the countless hours spent in the heart of Uganda, witnessing firsthand the transformative power of education and support. Every day in Mashunga is a testament to the human spirit, to resilience, and to the power of community. It's about the joy that lights up a child's face when they understand a new concept, the laughter that echoes through the fields during playtime, and the collective sigh of relief when a well runs clear with clean water for the first time. My work with Mashunga is more than charity; it's a labour of love. It's the sweet exhaustion at the end of a long day, the satisfaction of seeing a project come to fruition, and the quiet moments of reflection amidst the Ugandan sunset. It's about making a difference, one child at a time. And as I balance this alongside my regular work, I am reminded of the profound impact a single act of kindness can have. Just as every picture tells a story, every child in Mashunga carries a dream – a dream that, with a little help, can become a reality.

As a photographer, every day is filled with a variety of tasks, from early morning emails and coffee to sneak peek editing. Depending on the day, I might find myself preparing for a shoot, diving into a shot list, or gearing up for a day on location. Lately, I've been balancing my work with a newfound love for rock climbing. However, when wedding season rolls in, my routine takes a backseat to the hustle and bustle of capturing beautiful moments at beautiful venues. One such venue that never fails to impress is the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, BC, Canada.
The Fairmont Empress, an iconic symbol of Victoria's rich history and regal elegance, is a venue that provides a stunning backdrop for wedding photography. The grand architecture and meticulously manicured gardens offer a range of gorgeous settings for capturing the magic of a wedding day.

The early mornings here are serene. As I sip my coffee, overlooking the stunning harbour views, I find myself inspired and ready to start the day. Whether it's a sunrise shoot on the hotel's sprawling lawn or a romantic first-look in the Rose Garden, the possibilities at this venue are endless.

The venue's location also plays a crucial role. Nestled in the heart of Victoria, the Fairmont Empress is surrounded by the city's charming old-world character. The surrounding cityscape, with its historic buildings and vibrant waterfront, adds another layer of visual interest to wedding photos.

While the venue's exterior provides plenty of photo opportunities, the interior is equally impressive. The Empress Ballroom, with its ornate ceiling and grand chandeliers, creates a breathtaking setting for a reception. Meanwhile, the hotel's luxurious suites provide a perfect backdrop for intimate pre-wedding photos.

One unique aspect of shooting at the Fairmont Empress is the level of service. The staff is always professional, accommodating, and ensure that everything runs smoothly. This allows me to focus solely on capturing the best shots for my clients.

Despite the hectic nature of wedding season, venues like the Fairmont Empress make the hard work worthwhile. Each wedding I shoot here is a unique experience, filled with beautiful moments and breathtaking settings. The Fairmont Empress is more than just a venue; it's a testament to the enduring charm of Victoria, and a perfect stage for unforgettable wedding stories.
